The letter suggests that the lack of academic excellence at the school may be due to students' participation in extracurricular activities, the lack of an efficient study support system like a writing center, and a culture of misattributing failures.
Explanation:Dear Friend,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits. I wanted to share with you some of the reasons I believe our school is not excelling in academic works.
Many of our students are highly involved in extracurricular activities. For instance, our basketball team spends many hours each week training, affecting their study time. They are not unlike the high school student who gets teased for receiving an academic award. Their focus is divided, which often impacts academic performance negatively.
Our school lacks an efficient study support system, like a writing center, where students could get assistance and feedback on their school assignments. Perhaps if we had such a tool, students could learn to review their work and improve their writing skills better. It would positively impact our collective academic standing.
Misattribution of failures also plays a part. An example would be Kim, a classmate of mine, who blamed his history course failure on the professor’s personal bias rather than his own lack of study and attendance.
Overall, the factors hindering our academic excellence are many and complex. These issues make it hard for our school to achieve its academic potential.
Warm regards,

What has the narrator Araby lost by the end of his story
Answer:
James Joyce is famous for creating characters who undergo an epiphany—a sudden moment of insight—and the narrator of "Araby" is one of his best examples At the end of the story, the boy overhears a trite conversation between an English girl working at the bazaar and two young men, and he suddenly realizes that he has been confusing things. It dawns on him that the bazaar, which he thought would be so exotic and exciting, is really only a commercialized place to buy things. Furthermore, he now realizes that Mangan's sister is just a girl who will not care whether he fulfills his promise to buy her something at the bazaar. His conversation with Mangan's sister, during which he promised he would buy her something, was really only small talk—as meaningless as the one between the English girl and her companions. He leaves Araby feeling ashamed and upset. This epiphany signals a change in the narrator—from an innocent, idealistic boy to an adolescent dealing with the harsh realities of life.
Explanation:
I think this might be the answer... if it's not it's on me
The narrator in 'Araby' experiences a loss of youthful innocence and idealism, leading to a disillusioned and more self-aware perspective on life.
Explanation:By the end of James Joyce's story 'Araby', the narrator has lost his idealistic perceptions of love and the world around him, leading to a painful epiphany of his own vanity and the stark reality of life. His romantic notions about the bazaar called Araby and his feelings for Mangan's sister are met with disenchantment. The narrator is confronted with the mundane and the unattainable nature of his desires, symbolizing the loss of his youthful innocence and a step toward mature self-awareness.

Choose the sentence that uses abbreviations and numbers correctly.
A.
Eleven high schools in the area have a chapter of SADD.
B.
Eleven high schools in the area have a chapter of S.A.D.D..
C.
11 high schools in the area have a chapter of S.A.D.D.
D.
11 high schools in the area have a chapter of SADD.
Answer:
A.
Explanation:
This is because C and D use the number form of eleven which is not used in the beginning of a sentence, and B put the abbreviation wrong.
The correct answer is A. Eleven high schools in the area have a chapter of SADD.
Explanation:
In writing, small numbers are usually spelled while big numbers are written using figures or numerals. Also, the range of numbers varies according to each manual style as some state numbers from 1 to 10 should be spelled but others state numbers from 1 to 100 can be spelled. In all cases, if a sentence begins with a number this should be always spelled except in the case of years. This implies in the sentence presented the number should be "eleven" and not "11".
On the other hand, in terms of abbreviations manuals recommend to use capital letters and avoid the use of unnecessary periods between letters, also if the abbreviation is at the end of sentences and periods are used it is not necessary to add an extra period to end the sentence. According to this, the correct answer is "Eleven high schools in the area have a chapter of SADD."

Match the type of dialect to its description. 1. Southern dialect 2. General American dialect 3. New England dialect. A. Regional dialect spoken by those in Alabama B. Dialect spoken in most of the u.s. C. Regional dialect spoken in Massachusetts
Answer:
Southern dialect - regional dialect spoken by those in Alabama
General American dialect - dialect spoken in most of the us
New England dialect - Regional dialect spoken in Massachusetts
Hope that helps!
Answer:
1.A --- Southern dialect --- Regional dialect spoken by those in Alabama.
2.B --- General American dialect --- Dialect spoken in most of the U.S.
3.C --- New England dialect --- Regional dialect spoken in Massachusetts.
Explanation:
1- Southern dialect is called all the dialects spoken in the southernmost states of the United States, from Florida to Texas, predominantly in rural areas and especially among white citizens. Among the famous people who speak with a southern accent is the former president of the United States George W. Bush. It is very easy to recognize by a simple expression like Y’all instead of you as a plural. In addition, they use Sir and Madam to refer to someone with respect.
2- General American is a variety of English spoken in the United States, considered the most representative of American English. It is mostly spoken in the Midwestern states, but has become the benchmark for most television and radio presenters, in films and in advertising. Walter Cronkite is a good example of a television journalist with a typical General American accent.
General American is the variety of American English typically taught to those who study English as a second language in the United States, and also to students from other countries who wish to learn "American English". In most Asian countries, in particular, teachers are strongly encouraged to use this variety of English, whatever their origin or accent.
3- Although it is popularly known as a Boston accent, this type of accent can actually be heard anywhere in the New England area, the northeastern US coastal states around the state of Massachusetts. Typical English expressions adapted to a less sophisticated American can be heard throughout the New England area and the northwest coast. Its best known feature is to replace the ending -ar of many words with an -ah, so that car would sound like cah. They do the same with any or, so the Boston accent would be Bahton's accent.

What type of evidence is used in this excerpt from "The Crisis, No.1" by Thomas Paine? I once felt all that kind of anger, which a man ought to feel, against the mean principles that are held by the Tories: a noted one, who kept a tavern at Amboy, was standing at his door, with as pretty a child in his hand, about eight or nine years old, as I ever saw, and after speaking his mind as freely as he thought was prudent, finished with this unfatherly expression, "Well! give me peace in my day." Not a man lives on the continent but fully believes that a separation must some time or other finally take place, and a generous parent should have said, "If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace." A. empirical evidence B. emotional evidence C. logical evidence D. anecdotal evidence
Answer:
The correct answer to the question: What type of evidence is used in this excerpt from "The Crisis, No. 1" by Thomas Paine? Would be, D: Anecdotal evidence.
Explanation:
The reason for this being the answer comes from the excerpt itself. Thomas Paine is arguing, in his pamphlet "The Crisis, No.1" against the Tories, Americans who still supported the cause of the British and accepted British colonial rule over the right of those colonies to seek their independence. Because these Americans were one of the major reasons why the revolution was not much more successful, philosophers, and thinkers, like Paine, dedicated themselves to show these people the need for change and the importance that it had that Torries would change their way of behaving towards the cause for independence. In this particular excerpt from his pamphlet, Paine uses anecdotal evidence, the case of one particular Torie and his unacceptable behavior towards the cause of independence, especially in light of his not thinking about the future for his child, but only his desire to be left alone and in peace, to make his point that if the future of the colonies were left in the hands of these people, then, changes would be impossible and there would be no future for the coming generations.

oday, few people have heard of Jundi Shapur. But in its time, it was an exceptional university. Jundi Shapur was built in what is now Iran sometime between the 400s and mid-500s A.D. We can only guess the dates, but we do know more about the school. It was the meeting place of the world's great minds. In 529, Christians closed the school of Athens—the last link to the academies of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. The remaining Greek scholars moved to Jundi Shapur. Jews joined them, as did a group of Christians called Nestorians, who had their own ancient and scholarly traditions. Persians added their voices, and one of their learned doctors set off for what is now India, to gather and translate the wisdom of the Hindus. The school created the very first teaching hospital in the world, a place where the sick were treated and young doctors learned their craft, as well as a fine observatory to track the heavens. At Jundi Shapur the best scholars west of China all gathered to think and study together. –Sugar Changed the World, Marc Aronson and Marina Budhos Which details from the text support the central idea of this passage? In this unit, you explored different types of media that people use to communicate information. You learned about print media, broadcast media, and Internet media.
Choose a type of media that you think you could live without. Why do you think that you don't need this type of media in your life? What don’t you like about it, or what makes it less useful than other types of media?
Next, choose a type of media that you think you couldn't live without. Why do you think that you need to have this type of media in your life? What aspects of this type of media appeal to you? What would you do to make this type of media even better and more useful to you?
I could live without print media since it's not as relevant as before such as 20 years ago. To add, the environmental impact with the abundance of paper that needs to be made to provide this media isn't worth it since it's not the only option of media out there to use. And I wasn't even including the textile industry's havoc on nature. To focus back, my main point is that print media industry is dying out and it isn't worth trying to preserve.
The second one is a little tricky when you think of all the things that can happen outside of daily life at least for me, but personally I feel that I would much rather have internet media stay in my life than broadcast media. Of course, broadcast media can be very important in diaster scenarios, but it just doesn't play a large part in my everyday life. Ideally networks like pbs are a great way to get news since they are a government service and are impartial to right or left thinking, but many don't use it like me. It could be a great valuable tool for getting informed especially in controversial discussions. As it is now I would rather have internet media as oppose to broadcast media has it has pertain to my life.
Hello! pick one of these!
Choice one:
I could live without print media because I really don’t like to read unless I need to for my schoolwork. I think other types of media are more interesting.
I don’t think I could live without internet media because I use internet-based radio and television a lot. I really like listening to music on my Alexa and watching Netflix on my TV. To make it better, I would like the internet to never glitch.
Choice two:
I could live without social media because it seems overall pointless in my opinion. Mostly because you did not gain anything from using social media and there's many more efficient ways of sharing information. There's no type of media I could not live without. The closest sing fism media that I could not live without is the emergency alert systems.
Choice Three:
I think I could live without radio because I don't listen to the radio often and I usually listen to music via iPhone.I think I CANNOT live without internet and broadcast media because i'm usually active on both of those and It's what I usually do when I don't have schoolwork to do.
I hope i helped!! have an amazing day.

Which journalistic decisions would violate the code of ethics set by the Society of Professional Journalists? Select two options D A newspaper places an ad on the page opposite an article about foreign policy A journalist reports on a series of robberies that occurred in his own neighborhood A reporter writes a story about his wife's company without revealing their relationship
Journalistic decisions that would violate the Society of Professional Journalists' Code of Ethics include reporting on personal matters without objectivity or transparency, and failing to disclose personal relationships such as a reporter writing about a spouse's company. Upholding public interest, accuracy, and fairness are paramount.
According to the Code of Ethics set by the Society of Professional Journalists, certain decisions would indeed be considered unethical. Journalists are expected to uphold objectivity, fairness, and transparency in their reporting, while avoiding conflicts of interest. Two specific decisions that would violate these ethical standards are:
A journalist reporting on a series of robberies that occurred in his own neighborhood may not necessarily violate the code, unless the journalist's work is compromised by personal biases or if the report could harm his neighbors' reputations without serving a significant public interest.
However, a reporter writing a story about his wife's company without revealing their relationship is a direct violation as it represents a clear conflict of interest and compromises the journalist's objectivity and transparency required by the code.
Both of these scenarios pose a threat to the trustworthiness and integrity of the journalistic work. The latter one, especially, disregards the ethical obligations of providing unbiased information and maintaining the larger public interest above personal or financial interests.

Reviews & Interviews
Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher has gained positive reviews. Many people find it fun and refreshing. Kids enjoy it. Yet, some say that there is a fine line between "fantasy" and "reality". Kirkus Reviews wrote that it was "A funny, enjoyable, imaginative story whose serious undercurrents lend it unexpected depth. According to Christopher Paolini, it also served as inspiration for his book Eragon, as he had loved the story's dragon-hatching storyline. " As you know, there has been a lot of social controversy about exposing kids to reality vs. fantasy. What are your thoughts about the social implications of "magic" in the lives of our children? Is the use of "magic" in your books just fantasy, just fun? Sometimes kids do a much better job at telling the difference between fantasy and reality than a group of adults. Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher has been taken off the shelf in one school district for what they called "satanic content"the presence of the dragon, the chicken livers, the silver gleam, and the use of black and red colors here and there in the book. It went back on the shelf after a protracted discussion and once I got involved in the issue. But I can't address magic across the spectrum because different people have different feelings about it. I can only say that, for me, fantasy is a way of telling an amusing and engaging story and fantasy fiction sometimes addresses important issues at a deeper level than realistic fiction does. C. S. Lewis said "Sometimes the best way to tell the truth is to tell a fairy tale."

Final answer:
A bounding box is a rectangular frame that fully encloses an object within an image or scene, used in fields like computer graphics, video game development, and machine learning for tasks including collision detection and object tracking.
Explanation:
A bounding box in the context of computer graphics and computer vision is a rectangular border that fully contains a particular object, shape, or area of interest within an image, a scene, or a design. The purpose of a bounding box is often to define the extent of an object to simplify processes like collision detection in video games, object tracking and detection in machine learning models, or selecting and manipulating elements in graphic design software. Typically, a bounding box is determined by the x and y coordinates of its top-left corner and its width and height, which allows us to define the rectangle that contains the object.
An example of the use of bounding boxes could be in the field of automated vehicle systems where they might be employed to identify other cars on the road. Here, a camera feeds images to an on-board computer that uses machine learning algorithms to detect other vehicles. Each detected vehicle is then wrapped in a bounding box for further analysis, such as calculating the distance to each car and determining obstacle courses to avoid collisions.
