When previewing the text structure of an editorial, you will likely notice that the content is opinionated. An editorial is an article which is published in a newspaper and written by an editor containing an opinion about a topic (usually about a current issue).

Explanation:

Although this is a personal question, it is possible to provide an example of how to answer this question.

Think of a time when you needed to prepare information for something you were learning. For example, maybe you were studying a particular subject in class and needed to make a presentation on it. In order to prepare for it, it is likely that you needed to obtain additional information on the subject and that you did so by looking at a text.

For example, I once had to give a presentation on the topic of Enlightenment philosophers. In order to do so, I looked at several texts that were written by Rousseau and Montesquieu in order to better understand the subject that I was talking about.

Go through reception and turned right at the l entrance.

Answers

I'm going to assume that you mistakenly put an "I" in this sentence. Let me know if I assumed correctly (Go through reception and turned right at the l entrance)

Go through reception, and turn right at the entrance.

You must put a comma after reception and before "and" because this is a compound sentence that could be split into two separate sentences.

"Turn" was originally "turned" which is incorrect because "turned" is past tense and you must keep the tense the same throughout the whole sentence.

Hope this helped!

The proofreading of the given sentence would be as follows:

"Go through reception and turn right at the entrance."

Proofreading

"Proofreading" is described as the process of reviewing a written work or text in order to look for any kind of grammatical or spelling errors.

In the given sentence, the parallelism in 'turned' has been missed while associating two words through the conjunction 'and.'

Another error is the inadequate placement of the pronoun 'I' in the middle of the sentence.

Therefore, 'turned' would become 'turn' and 'I' would be removed.

Answer:

A circle of life

Explanation:

Answer:

b) true Christianity

One of the themes that are present in Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin is the idea of "true" Christianity. Stowe argues throughout the book that slavery and Christianity are incompatible. This went against many popular opinions of the time that argued that slavery was mandated by Christianity. Stowe argued that a true Christian needed to be concerned with the welfare of others and fight for justice and equality, all of which went against slavery.

Read this excerpt from Thomas Paine's essay "Common Sense"
Mankind being originally equals in the order of creation, the equality could only be destroyed by some subsequent circumstance, the distinctions of
rich, and poor, may in a great measure be accounted for, and that without having recourse to the harsh, ill-sounding names of oppression and
avarice. Oppression is often the CONSEQUENCE, but seldom or never the MEANS of riches, and though avarice will preserve a man from being
necessitously poor, it generally makes him too timorous to be wealthy
But there is another and greater distinction, for which no truly natural or religious reason can be assigned, and that is, the distinction of men into
KINGS and SUBJECTS. Male and female are the distinctions of nature, good and bad the distinctions of heaven, but how a race of men came into
the world so exalted above the rest, and distinguished like some new species, is worth inquiring into, and whether they are the means of happiness
or of misery to mankind
What is Thomas Paine's central claim in this excerpt?
A.
There will always be a distinction between kings and their subjects.
B.
The equality that humans enjoyed during creation has been ruined because of war and famine
C. Not all people who belonged to the upper sections of society were cruel.
D.
The differences between the kings and the subjects were not religious or natural.

Answers

A. There will always be a distinction between kings and their subjects.

*Side note: I remember reading this and it was so disturbing but clever how Paine used his writing to convince the wealthy that there is a problem that needs fixing.*

Answer:

D. The differences between the kings and the subjects were not religious or natural.

Explanation:

Thomas Paine claims that humankind is equal in terms of rights since it has been " created" equal. This is a religious thought which has been altered by some factors Paine is interested in inquiring. He believes humankid has lost their equality due to the presence of Kings and subjects. He thinks this difference has to do with power; this power does not exist due to religion or biology. Paine ,however, cannot explain yet why this difference exits.

Read this passage from Dragonwings by Laurence Yep. I had been in the demon land for only ten months, so it would have been about January of the demons' year 1904, when we met Mr. Alger. I remember it was a gray, wintry day. We were making the rounds when we saw one of the horseless carriages stranded by the sidewalk and a demon in a big overcoat standing beside it. His driving cap was pushed back, and he was scratching his forehead in a puzzled way. The metal hood on the front of the horseless had been folded back on top so you could see into its innards. "Whoa, Red Rabbit." Father pulled at the reins and Red Rabbit stopped. Father set the brake, and as an extra precaution he put the wooden block behind the wheel. "Can I help?" he asked. The demon was a big, cheerful-looking demon with a bland, round face. He eyed father. "I dunno, John." Many demons called Tang men John because, they insisted, they never could get the hang of our real names. "You know anything about horselesses?" Read the following excerpt from "The City Without Us" by Alan Weisman:
Yet with each new acid-free rainfall, trees that still endure
will have fewer contaminants to resist as chemicals are
gradually flushed from the system. Over centuries,
vegetation will take up decreasing levels of heavy metals,
and will recycle, redeposit, and dilute them further. As
plants die, decay, and lay down more soil cover, the
industrial toxins will be buried deeper, and each
succeeding crop of native seedlings will do better.
Which best explains how the structure of this passage supports the author's purpose?

A. The passage traces several events in the order that they will occur to
highlight how people have harmed the environment.

B. The passage describes the effects of rain in the posthuman world to
highlight that nature will eventually neutralize the pollution created by
people.

C. The passage shows the effects of rain on certain plants to prove that laws
protecting the environment are necessary for human survival.

D. The passage compares the acidity of rain before and during a posthuman
world to underscore that pollution levels will remain the same.

Answers

Final answer:

The passage effectively shows that, over time, nature has the capacity to neutralize and mitigate the harmful effects of human-made pollutants. It doesn't focus on the harm humans have caused but rather emphasizes nature's resilience.

Explanation:

The structure of the passage from The City Without Us by Alan Weisman can be best explained by choice B: The passage describes the effects of rain in the post-human world to highlight that nature will eventually neutralize the pollution created by people. This is supported by the detailed order of natural processes described by the author, where he outlines how the acids from the rain will gradually flush out the contaminants from the environment, paving the path for increasing growth and survival of native vegetation. The subsequent death and decay of these plants will add to the soil cover, burying the industrial toxins deeper and further neutralizing the harmful effects of human-generated pollution. The passage does not trace the negative effects of human actions as much as it underscores the resilience of nature.

A building used for an educational or religious purpose c. A group of persons considered by law to be a unit d. A body of clergy, living together and supported by a foundation

Answers

Answer:

I too believe the answer to be letter D.  A body of clergy, living together and supported by a foundation,

Explanation:

The Latin word collegium means "an association of collegae". Collegae is the plural form of collega, which means partner in office (hence, the English "colleague"). From collegium, the word college was developed. In the 14th century, is was used to refer to a resident body of ecclesiastics supported by an endowment. Letter D paraphrases such meaning very well: a body of clergy, living together and supported by a foundation. College soon presented some other meanings as well. But, since we have to choose among the options given, the best one is indeed letter D.

why is this sentence ineffective i have a lot of great skills that would really help your company be successful

Answers

If I understand correctly, you’re asking why “I have a lot of great skills that would really help your company be successful” is ineffective. If that’s correct, it is because he does not list or name any of this skills therefore, the statement is ineffective.

Final answer:

The provided sentence is ineffective due to its vagueness and lack of specifics. A more effective approach would include quantifiable accomplishments and specific skills connected to the value they bring to the employer.

Explanation:

The sentence 'I have a lot of great skills that would really help your company be successful' is ineffective because it is vague and does not provide specific details about the skills or how they would benefit the company. An effective sentence would pinpoint particular qualifications or achievements and demonstrate their relevance to the employer's needs. For example, a more effective statement might be:

'With a proven track record in increasing operational efficiency by 20% at my last position, my expertise in process optimization could contribute to the ongoing success of your firm.'

This revised sentence offers a concrete example of a skill and quantifies its impact, aligning it with the potential benefits for the employer. It also starts with an action, follows with quantifiable accomplishments, and connects these achievements to the value they bring to the employer.

The boy was called Hansel and the girl Gretel. He had little to bite and to break, and once when great dearth fell on the land, he could no longer procure even daily bread. Now when he thought over this by night in his bed, and tossed about in his anxiety, he groaned and said to his wife: "What is to become of us? How are we to feed our poor children, when we no longer have anything even for ourselves?" "I'll tell you what, husband," answered the woman, "early tomorrow morning we will take the children out into the forest to where it is the thickest; there we will light a fire for them, and give each of them one more piece of bread, and then we will go to our work and leave them alone. They will not find the way home again, and we shall be rid of them." "No, wife," said the man, "I will not do that; how can I bear to leave my children alone in the forest?the wild animals would soon come and tear them to pieces." "O, you fool!" said she, "then we must all four die of hunger, you may as well plane the planks for our coffins," and she left him no peace until he consented. "But I feel very sorry for the poor children, all the same," said the man. The two children had also not been able to sleep for hunger, and had heard what their stepmother had said to their father. Gretel wept bitter tears, and said to Hansel: "Now all is over with us." "Be quiet, Gretel," said Hansel, "do not distress yourself, I will soon find a way to help us." And when the old folks had fallen asleep, he got up, put on his little coat, opened the door below, and crept outside. The moon shone brightly, and the white pebbles which lay in front of the house glittered like real silver pennies. Hansel stooped and stuffed the little pocket of his coat with as many as he could get in. Then he went back and said to Gretel: "Be comforted, dear little sister, and sleep in peace, God will not forsake us," and he lay down again in his bed. When day dawned, but before the sun had risen, the woman came and awoke the two children, saying: "Get up, you sluggards! we are going into the forest to fetch wood." She gave each a little piece of bread, and said: "There is something for your dinner, but do not eat it up before then, for you will get nothing else." Gretel took the bread under her apron, as Hansel had the pebbles in his pocket. Then they all set out together on the way to the forest. When they had walked a short time, Hansel stood still and peeped back at the house, and did so again and again. His father said: "Hansel, what are you looking at there and staying behind for? Pay attention, and do not forget how to use your legs." "Ah, father," said Hansel, "I am looking at my little white cat, which is sitting up on the roof, and wants to say goodbye to me." The wife said: "Fool, that is not your little cat, that is the morning sun which is shining on the chimneys." Hansel, however, had not been looking back at the cat, but had been constantly throwing one of the white pebble-stones out of his pocket on the road. When they had reached the middle of the forest, the father said: "Now, children, pile up some wood, and I will light a fire that you may not be cold." Hansel and Gretel gathered brushwood together, as high as a little hill. The brushwood was lighted, and when the flames were burning very high, the woman said: "Now, children, lay yourselves down by the fire and rest, we will go into the forest and cut some wood. When we have done, we will come back and fetch you away." Hansel and Gretel sat by the fire, and when noon came, each ate a little piece of bread, and as they heard the strokes of the wood-axe they believed that their father was near. It was not the axe, however, but a branch which he had fastened to a withered tree which the wind was blowing backwards and forwards. And as they had been sitting such a long time, their eyes closed with fatigue, and they fell fast asleep. When at last they awoke, it was already dark night. Gretel began to cry and said: "How are we to get out of the forest now?" But Hansel comforted her and said: "Just wait a little, until the moon has risen, and then we will soon find the way." And when the full moon had risen, Hansel took his little sister by the hand, and followed the pebbles which shone like newly-coined silver pieces, and showed them the way.
