Imagine you are writing an essay on whether or not schools should hire a private catering company to provide fresh and healthy lunches for all students at a slightly higher cost than what the school currently pays. Decide your position, then use one of the techniques for a hook to introduce your topic . Your answer should be 1 to 3 sentences.

Answers

Answer: Have you ever had lunch at our school and said, "Yuck!"? That would be because the people cooking are not very good at their job. With a private caterer, your school would have delicious food from a certified Chef.

Hope this helps. Plz mark brainliest when you can.

Schools should hire private catering for fresh, healthy lunches, ensuring meals are delicious and nourishing, fueling students' minds and bodies.

Schools should indeed hire a private catering company to provide fresh and healthy lunches for all students, despite the slightly higher cost.

Imagine a school cafeteria where every meal is not only a feast for the taste buds but also a source of nourishment that fuels young minds and bodies for the rigors of learning.

The decision to advocate for hiring a private catering company is based on the understanding that the quality of food served in schools has a direct impact on the health and academic performance of students.

By employing a private catering company that specializes in fresh and healthy meals, schools can ensure that the food provided is of high nutritional value, which is essential for the growth and development of children.

The slight increase in cost can be justified by the long-term benefits of improved student health and performance, which may lead to better educational outcomes and potentially lower healthcare costs in the future.

The hook used here is the technique of imagery, which paints a vivid picture of an ideal scenario where meals are both enjoyable and beneficial to students' well-being.

This approach engages the reader's senses and emotions, making a compelling case for the investment in quality school lunches.

In about five to six sentences, describe how an author can use ethos to persuade their reader. help please !!

Answers

Answer:

1.) The main thing a speaker needs to do is convince the audience that they know what they’re talking about. After all, how are you going to sell someone a product you know nothing about? This includes knowing both sides of an argument and presenting each of them accurately. This helps assure the audience that you’ve at least done your research on the subject.

2.) Also, in order to use this strategy effectively, it’s important for a speaker to understand the audience to which they’ll be speaking. By having this background knowledge the speaker can research their subject matter, and then tailor their message in a way that resonates with that specific audience.

3.) In addition, citing credible sources is also a must. For example, if you were trying to persuade your audience to use a certain pharmaceutical product, and you yourself were not a doctor or pharmacist, you might reference or quote known physicians. An audience can forgive the fact that you’re not a certified expert on the subject that you’re presenting, but they may not forgive you for not making an effort to provide an expert’s opinion.

Explanation:

A writer (or speaker) that uses ethos means to persuade the audience by using his or her own credibility or authority. There are many ways to get it done. The simplest one is to declare titles. Another one is to brag about previous works or achievements. He or she can also appeal to his or her own character.

A Song of the English

by Rudyard Kipling (excerpt)

Fair is our lot -- O goodly is our heritage!
(Humble ye, my people, and be fearful in your mirth!)
For the Lord our God Most High
He hath made the deep as dry,
He hath smote for us a pathway to the ends of all the Earth!

Yea, though we sinned -- and our rulers went from righteousness --
Deep in all dishonour though we stained our garments' hem.
Oh be ye not dismayed,
Though we stumbled and we strayed,
We were led by evil counsellors -- the Lord shall deal with them!

. . .

Keep ye the Law -- be swift in all obedience --
Clear the land of evil, drive the road and bridge the ford.
Make ye sure to each his own
That he reap where he hath sown;
By the peace among Our peoples let men know we serve the Lord!

how is work of the future similar from the work of today or the past

Answers

Final answer:

The work of the future will reflect many current trends stemming from changes in technology and cultural values. It maintains the consistent need for work ethic but now includes the need for continuous learning and adaptability, with a greater emphasis on autonomy and personal fulfillment.

Explanation:

The work of the future is likely to continue the trends we see today, reflecting the evolution of work from the past. While some elements of work remain constant, such as the need for productivity and the exchange of labor for compensation, the nature of work has undergone substantial changes with advancements in technology and shifts in social and cultural values.

One critical aspect that has remained constant is the concept of work ethic: the value placed on diligence, reliability, and responsibility in the workplace. In the past, this often translated into manual labor and compliance with strict hierarchical structures. Today, the modern work ethic has evolved to include the need for continuous learning, adaptability, and a more significant emphasis on autonomy and personal fulfillment.

With the advent of the information age, the expectation for workers to manage higher levels of education, possess people management skills, and stay abreast of the latest information has increased. The rapid pace of production, facilitated by digital technology, has also impacted the work environment significantly. These trends challenge workers to remain relevant and competitive in a global marketplace, while employers must adapt their practices to attract and retain skilled labor.

B. world, has been one of the most common fish

C. world, what has been one of the most common fish

D. world, the fish which have been one of the most common fish

E. world, one of the most common fish

Answers

Answer:E

Explanation:this correction makes the sentence grammatically correct

Answer:

B. world, has been one of the most common fish

Explanation:

When we look at the context, we see that this sentence is meant to be the introduction of our text. It is meant to give some information about cod. "Cod," therefore, is the subject. Then, the phrase "a fish found in ocean water around the world" is an appositive. An appositive is a noun or pronoun, accompanied by modifiers, that is set next to another noun in order to modify it. Finally, in order for the rest of the sentence to make sense, we need a verb, which in this case is "has been."

Middle-aged adults have lower accident rates due to experience, improved decision-making, and physical changes brought on by aging.

If you were interested in finding out where this story and others like it derive their sources, what cross-cultural subject might you decide to research?

A) harbingers of death

B) behavior of pigeons

C) perceptions of Indians

D) bringers of tragedy

Answers

To understand the origins of stories about death and similar themes, one should research "harbingers of death," an anthropological topic examining cultural interpretations and responses to death.

If you are interested in finding out where this story and others like it derive their sources, you might decide to research harbingers of death. This cross-cultural subject is linked to anthropological studies that explore how different cultures interpret and handle the concept of death and dying. This includes examining various beliefs and practices surrounding death, and how these reflect on a culture's understanding of mortality and the afterlife.

Studying harbingers of death allows you to delve into the universal human anxiety about death that Bronislaw Malinowski discussed, as well as the cultural practices and supernatural interpretations that various societies have developed to cope with this fear. You would explore the universal aspects of these beliefs as well as the particular details that make each culture's response unique, considering factors like cultural imperialism, food taboos, and harmful traditional practices.

The correct subject to research in order to find out where this story and others like it derive their sources is C) perceptions of Indians.

Let's consider each option:

A) Harbingers of death: This option is too specific and does not necessarily involve cross-cultural elements. Harbingers of death are often specific to particular cultures and their mythologies or folklore, and while there may be cross-cultural similarities, the focus is on a specific theme rather than a broader cultural perspective.

B) Behavior of pigeons: While pigeons are found across many cultures, the behavior of pigeons is a zoological subject and does not directly relate to cultural narratives or story sources. This option is more biological than cultural.

C) Perceptions of Indians: This option is the most appropriate because it directly addresses how a particular group of people, in this case, Indians, are perceived across different cultures. Stories about Indians can vary greatly depending on the cultural lens through which they are told, and researching this subject would provide insights into the origins and evolution of such stories, including stereotypes, historical contexts, and cultural exchanges.

D) Bringers of tragedy: Similar to option A, this option is too narrowly focused on a specific theme within stories and does not inherently involve a cross-cultural approach. It would not necessarily lead to an understanding of the sources of stories across different cultures.

In conclusion, researching the perceptions of Indians would provide the broadest insight into the cultural narratives and story sources that are shaped by cross-cultural interactions and perceptions.

This research would help in understanding the origins and development of stories like the one mentioned in the question, which is likely influenced by how Indians have been historically and culturally perceived by different societies.

Read the following excerpts from the biography and autobiography of Ben Carson.
From the Academy of Achievement autobiographical interview:

We had to stay in the house and read these books and our friends were outside and they were playing and they knew we couldn't come out. It seems like they would be making just that much more noise to torment us. But, I hated it for the first several weeks, but then all of a sudden, I started to enjoy it because we had no money, but between the covers of those books, I could go anyplace, I could be anybody, I could do anything. And, I began to learn how to use my imagination more because it doesn't really require a lot of imagination to watch television, but it does to read. You've got to take those letters and make them into words, and those words into sentences, and those sentences into concepts, and the more you do that, the more vivid your imagination becomes. And, I believe that's probably one of the reasons that you see that creative people tend to be readers, because they're exercising their mind.
I was reading about people in laboratories, pouring chemicals from a beaker into a flask and watching the steam rise, and completing electrical circuits, and discovering galaxies, and looking at microcosms in the microscope, and I just acquired so much knowledge, and I had put myself into those settings and I saw myself differently than everybody else in my environment who just wanted to get out of school so they could get some cool clothes and a cool car. And, I was looking down the pike and seeing myself as a scientist or a physician or something of that nature, and that was one of the things that sort of carried me through much of the ridicule and some of the hardships that a person would have to go through coming from my environment and going to medical school.
The thing that I am probably the most proud of is not all the medical accomplishments or honorary degrees or various boards and societies. I'm most proud of the 100,000-plus letters that I have from young people, throughout America and around the world, whose lives have been changed by reading one of my books, or seeing me on television, or an interview in a magazine, and recognizing that they have the ability to define their own lives. If that's the legacy that I leave, I'll be very happy.
I was talking to a friend of mine, who was a cardiothoracic surgeon, who was the chief of the division, and I said, "You guys operate on the heart in babies, how do you keep them from exsanguinating" and he says, "Well, we put them in hypothermic arrest." I said, "Is there any reason that—if we were doing a set of Siamese twins that were joined at the head—that we couldn't put them into hypothermic arrest, at the appropriate time, when we're likely to lose a lot of blood?" and he said, "No." I said, "Wow, this is great." Then I said, "Why am I putting my time into this? I'm not going to see any Siamese twins." So I kind of forgot about it, and lo and behold, two months later, along came these doctors from Germany, presenting this case of Siamese twins. And, I was asked for my opinion, and I then began to explain the techniques that should be used, and how we would incorporate hypothermic arrest, and everybody said "Wow! That sounds like it might work." And, my colleagues and I, a few of us went over to Germany. We looked at the twins. We actually put in scalp expanders, and five months later we brought them over and did the operation, and lo and behold, it worked.
