B. The narrator breaks the law, and overcomes natural obstacles and his own fear to gain knowledge to rebuild society.
What happens in the story? The main character and narrator is John. He is a priest who lives in a post-apocalyptic society. As a priest, John is allowed to touch metal. He can survive its touch, while ordinary people cannot - or at least, that is what they believe.John decides to leave his people and go on a journey, even though he knows that journey means breaking their laws. He will enter the Place of the Gods, a strange and abandoned collection of buildings and streets.John has to overcome several natural obstacles to reach that place. When he does, he has a revelation. The Place of the Gods used to be just a city. The gods were people, like John himself.John figures out what happened to those people: They were destroyed by their own inventions. Technology killed them. That is why the people who are now alive, like John's people, are afraid of metal and think it is cursed. With that knowledge, John returns home. He can now help rebuild society. With the information above in mind, we can choose letter B as the best summary of the conflict resolution.

Consider the style of Cisneros's novella and Esperanza's narrative voice. Do you think Cisneros's choice to organize the book as a series of loosely connected vignettes is effective?
Answer:
I think it is effective.
Explanation:
The question refers to The House of Mango Street, by Mexican-American writer Sandra Cisneros. The novella tells the story of a girl and how spaces in her house are connected to her memories and her very own identity.
Since one of the intentions of the novella is to show how memories are connected to the character and her spaces, the technique chosen by Cisneros works; it tries to show that memories don't always come in a tight way and they are not usually in order, so vignettes are a suitable technique.
Read the poem "Autumn" by Emily Dickinson.
The morns are meeker than they were,
The nuts are getting brown;
The berry's cheek is plumper,
The rose is out of town.
The maple wears a gayer scarf,
The field a scarlet gown.
Lest I should be old-fashioned,
I'll put a trinket on.

2. Autumn is a time for celebrations.
3. Nature changes the temperature in autumn.
4. Nature has an elegant appearance in autumn.
Answer: 4. Nature has an elegant appearance in autumn.
Explanation:
In her poem, Emily Dickinson describes the nature in autumn. She explains that the trees and fields have changed and are now more colorful than during summer. The field is wearing a scarlet dress, the maple ''a gayer scarf''. She metaphorically describes colors of the leaves and trees as clothes. In the last line, Dickinson states that she should also change her clothes, or she will be considered old-fashioned.

Read the passage from Hamlet, Act I, Scene iii.
Hamlet: ... but tell
Why thy canoniz’d bones, hearsed in death,
Have burst their cerements; why the sepulchre,
Wherein we saw thee quietly inurn’d, 55
Hath op’d his ponderous and marble jaws,
To cast thee up again.
What may this mean,
That thou, dead corse, again in complete steel
Revisit’st thus the glimpses of the moon ...
Which phrases provide clues that sepulchre means "grave”?
*** Check all that apply.*** (More than one answer, please!)
canoniz’d bones
hearsed in death
we saw thee
ponderous and marble jaws
the glimpses of the moon
Answer: canoniz’d bones X
hearsed in death X
we saw thee
ponderous and marble jaws X
the glimpses of the moon
Explanation: The first one talks about canonized bones which is like when someone dies and is officially declared a saint, so then we obviously know it's about something dead. But hearsed in death is the most telling that it's a grave because it's basically saying the bones are in a container of death (AKA grave). And then ponderous and marble jaws is describing a white fragile jaw hanging open, which definitely points to the jaw of a skeleton. All of these help relate it to a grave which helps find the meaning of sepulchre using context clues. Hope this helps u out!
Answer:
3) we saw thee
5) the glimpses of the moon

What is the falling action of the story the adventure of the cardboard box
Answer:
The Rising Action
The rising action comes when Holmes and Watson begin investigating the strange and alarming story Miss Stoner tells about her present concerns and and about the death of her newly engaged twin sister two years earlier. Her present situation bears so much resemblance to her late sister's situation, including metallic and whistling sounds and sudden abrupt building repair projects, that she turns for help to Holmes. The first step in the rising action is the threatening visit of her stepfather, Dr. Grimesby Roylott of Stoke Moran. He stands darkly in the doorway, an imposing figure, and demands in a loud voice that Holmes refrain from any interference with his family affairs. To prove his point that he is a dangerous man, he invades the room and bends a fire poker with his bare hands.
"Don’t you dare to meddle with my affairs. I know that Miss Stoner has been here. I traced her! I am a dangerous man to fall foul of! See here." He stepped swiftly forward, seized the poker, and bent it into a curve with his huge brown hands.
The rising action continues as Holmes and Watson take a train trip to and make an inspection of Stoke Moran to investigate the premises wherein Miss Stoner and Roylott live, where they are alone as no servants will stay. In the rising action at Stoke Moran, Holmes sees that the sudden structural repairs to the building are undertaken without need; that Miss Stoner's bedroom--the one Roylott has forced her into by his building construction--window cannot be breached from the outside; and that there are several disturbing features of the interior of that room, namely, a bed that can't be moved, a bell cord that rings no bell, an air vent that provides no ventilation. He also notices a saucer of milk in the room adjoining hers, although they keep no cat.
Further suspenseful rising action occurs when Holmes directs Miss Stoner to pretend she has a headache that night and retire to bed as early as she can; to signal him with a lamp in her window that she is there and alone; to gather what she needs for the night and return to her original room (despite its disheveled condition) further down the corridor.
Explanation:
Which two lines in this excerpt from “Inge’s Wall” suggest that Inge was envious of the people on the other side of the wall?
The wall was just a few feet from the home Inge shared with her parents. Aside from her school and other crumbling buildings in their neighborhood, their world was a few rooms in a dull, gray concrete flat with no yard and no trees. The wall was part of the view from the only windows they had, and Inge was drawn to the sounds she often heard from the other side—laughter, shouting, music, and the noise of busy traffic.
One day, as she explored the wall imagining what the sounds meant, she came upon a hole. Her heart thumped wildly as she leaned toward it. Through the hole, Inge caught a glimpse of a whole new world. It was a world of color—reds, blues, and yellows in the dresses of women strolling down the street, the colors of the shirts and ties the men wore, the colors of the ribbons in the little girls' braids. It was a world of people who did not begin and end each day in shades of gray. It was alive and brimming with activity, with living. Inge leaned, transfixed by the view, for hours until she began to feel the strain in her back and leg muscles. Then, pulling herself away, she headed home, knowing she would return again and again.
One fall day in 1990, as Inge headed for her favorite spot in the wall, she noticed that the towers from which the guards viewed her neighborhood were empty. And she noticed something else: she was not alone. Others, mostly young men with a mix of other people, some of whom she recognized were at already at the wall or moving toward it.
Answer:
1: It was a world of color—reds, blues, and yellows in the dresses of women strolling down the street, the colors of the shirts and ties the men wore, the colors of the ribbons in the little girls' braids
2: It was a world of people who did not begin and end each day in shades of gray.
Explanation:
Envy is an emotion which is characterized by desires for having those qualities, possessions or lucks of other people. It is opposite of generosity and contentment.
The first line shows that Inge's life lacked colors and freedom, so she was attracted by people's dress colors, and the freedom and leisure with which they strolled down the street. The second line shows that Inge's life was boring and each of her day began and ended dull so she looked enviously at people outside the wall who did started and ended their days full of life and brimming with activity.
There are many lines in this excerpt from "Inge's Wall" which suggest that Inge was envious of people on the other side of the wall. Some other lines suggesting the same are;
Inge was drawn to the sounds she often heard from the other side—laughter, shouting, music, and the noise of busy traffic.
It was alive and brimming with activity, with living.
Inge leaned, transfixed by the view, for hours until she began to feel the strain in her back and leg muscles.
She headed home, knowing she would return again and again.
Answer:
1. It was a world of people who did not begin and end each day in shades of gray.

Which words in this excerpt from the Declaration of Independence are emotionally charged?
Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our British brethren. We have "warned" them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the "circumstances" of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and "magnanimity", and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these "usurpation", which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of "justice" and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.
(The choices are in quotation marks)
Words in the Declaration of Independence which are emotionally charged are : warned, magnanimity, usurpation and justice.
Explanation:
Declaration of independence was the motivation of the thirteen colonies in the United States of America which wanted to gain independence from the rule of the British. There were certain words used in it which were emotionally charging.
Warned was emotionally charged because the American colonies had warned the British of their attempts to impose legislation. Magnanimity is emotionally charged because it represents extreme pity and it claims for justice to the Americans.
Usurpation means the actions have been taken unlawfully by the Britishers and incorrect actions taken to take away what belongs to the Americans. Thus this is also emotionally charging and the last word Justice is emotionally charging because it says that the Americans are demanding justice from their consanguinity brothers.
In the book Of Mice and Men by John Steinback, what does the fight between Lennie and Curley show about their characters?
Answer:
It shows that they handled these situations in an opposite way.
Explanation:
Of Mice and Men is a novel written by Nobel Prize winner John Steinbeck, and it tells the story of the two people mentioned in the question, who are ranch workers looking for a job. It also happens in California during the Great Depression.
The fight shows that Lennie didn't know how strong he was nor that he could react aggressively to a situation (it is important to remark that there was another person encouraging him to do so;) on the other hand, Curley is shown as a mean person who takes advantage of every situation, even if it is unnecessary. Lennie's answer during the fight also shows that Curley did not have as much power as he though he had.
Final answer:
The fight between Lennie and Curley in 'Of Mice and Men' illustrates Curley's aggressiveness and insecurities and Lennie's immense strength and limited understanding, foreshadowing the novel's tragic outcome.
Explanation:
In Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, the fight between Lennie and Curley serves as a crucial moment to highlight their character traits. Curley, the boss's son, is characterized as aggressive, confrontational, and insecure, especially in the way he targets Lennie, who is significantly larger than him. This reflects Curley's need to assert his dominance to compensate for his insecurities. Lennie, on the other hand, is portrayed as a gentle giant with limited mental capabilities and a natural strength he doesn't fully comprehend. During the fight, Lennie's actions are reactionary and driven by fear rather than aggression. He doesn't want to fight but is pushed into it by Curley and instructed by George. Once again, Lennie's lack of control over his own strength is evident, foreshadowing the tragic events to come.

The assurance you claim I possess is added to the subject that the speaker can perceive herself separately from how others do in an example from "Escape." What social commentary does Mark Twain make in this excerpt from "The 1,000,000 Bank-Note?"
You will remember that the Bank of England once issued two notes of a million pounds each, to be used for a special purpose connected with some public transaction with a foreign country. For some reason or other only one of these had been used and canceled; the other still lay in the vaults of the bank. Well, the brothers, chatting along, happened to get to wondering what might be the fate of a perfectly honest and intelligent stranger who should be turned adrift in London without a friend, and with no money but that million-pound bank note, and no way to account for his being in possession of it. Brother A said he would starve to death; brother B said he wouldn't. Brother A said he couldn't offer it at a bank or anywhere else, because he would be arrested on the spot. So they went on disputing till brother B said he would bet twenty thousand pounds that the man would live thirty days, any way, on that million, and keep out of jail, too. Brother A took him up. weave stories using the given themes ---- a) It is easy to suggest , but different to follow
The theme given here is that it is always easy to suggest others but difficult to follow them yourselves which means that it is very easy to speak on the things done by others but difficult to do those things yourself when you have to do them.
Explanation:
There was a man who owned a small farm. For working on that farm he had employed two boys. The man used to come in the mornings to only suggest what the boys had to do through out the day and he himself used to sit in the shade and used to sleep. He never used to work on his own. By the evening time when the boys used to finish the work, the man never used to appreciate them for their efforts and used to pay them very less wage saying that this work is very easy to do.
One day, one of the boys fell ill. So the man had to do the work of that boy on the field. When the man himself started working, he was sweating a lot, was working with great difficulty, got tired in the scorching heat and ultimately fainted. When he got up, he realized that it was very easy to simply give orders and very tough to actually follow them.

Explanation:
The tone of the given sentence, delivered in a speech to World War II veterans, is considered inappropriate because it is too casual and not formal enough (option C).
