d. Data from the National Weather Service on apexx
If a speaker wanted to support her claim that the use of cars has had an effect on the climate, the best source of evidence will be Data from the National Weather Service. Thus, the correct answer is option D.
What is evidence?The evidence for a proposition is what backs it up. It is commonly seen as proof that the supported proposition is correct. The function of evidence and how it is conceived differs by field. Something must be in the proper relationship to a hypothesis in order to serve as evidence for it.
The evidence demonstrates or supports the claim being made. It could be research, facts, quotes, or textual evidence from a work of literature. It should not be based on a guess, supposition, or the writer's viewpoint. Evidence that backs up a claim establishes its truthfulness.
Therefore, Data from the National Weather Service would be the appropriate evidence to support the claim of the speaker.

Dark Romanticism
Final answer:
The figurative language in Emerson's 'Concord Hymn' is personification. Transcendentalism and Dark Romanticism share an appreciation for imagination. In 'The Birthmark,' Aylmer's failures support the theme of imperfection. Emerson uses metaphor in his quote about consistency, and Poe's word choice establishes the mood in 'The Raven'.
Explanation:
The type of figurative language used in the line from "Concord Hymn" by Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Down the dark stream which seaward creeps," is personification. This is because the stream is given a human-like ability to creep, which is an action typically associated with movement that is secretive or quiet. Therefore, the correct answer is personification.
In considering the characteristics shared by both Transcendentalism and Dark Romanticism, the correct answer is valuing imagination. Both literary movements place a significant emphasis on the imagination and the inner experiences of the individual. Rejecting conformity is also a characteristic of Transcendentalism but is not typically associated with Dark Romanticism.
The component that provides support for the theme of imperfection in "The Birthmark" is Aylmer's continued scientific shortcomings and failures. These shortcomings represent the flawed nature of humanity and the imperfection inherent in seeking to achieve perfection. Hence, Aylmer's obsession with removing his wife's birthmark, which he sees as a flaw, supports the theme of imperfection.
When Emerson states, "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds," he is using metaphor as the figurative language. This metaphor compares a particular type of inconsistent behavior to a hobgoblin, a creature that causes fear or is a source of mischief, to emphasize the negative aspect of such behavior without the use of "like" or "as."
Lastly, one of the ways that Poe establishes the mood in "The Raven" is through his word choice. The words Poe chooses are full of darkness and despair, contributing to the eerie and ominous atmosphere of the poem.
in the sentence I brought Jane herself to the party, herself is used as a reflexive pronoun. True False
Answer:
b. False
Explanation:
The word "herself" is put after Jane's name to emphasize that is really her who was brought to the party. It is not used as a reflexive pronoun at all. Specially because the pronoun of the sentence is "I," therefore if there was a reflexive pronoun, it should be "myself."

Kites: Birds of Glory
As a rule, raptors, or birds of prey, are among the most admired and adored birds in the world. From the California condor to the snowy owl, few birds compare to the tigers of the air: the great hunters whose beauty and skill have inspired art and literature for centuries. The most glorious feathers of the peacock or the vibrant plumage of a bunting cannot compete with the power of a peregrine falcon or the determination of an osprey. Included in this group of hunters, however, is one bird of prey that is little known but equally impressive. The kites of the world are generally smaller than most raptors, but just as astonishing in skill and grace as any other hunter of the skies.
Most people think of paper or cloth structures flown with string from the ground when the word 'kite' is used. In addition to these popular toys, kite can also refer to a type of raptor. Kites have a small head, a short beak and long narrow wings and tail. Kites can be found all over the world in mostly warm regions. Kites live on a variety of prey—from insects to small rodents or reptiles. Some kites eat only one kind of prey. Kites are generally masterful in the air and represent a group of birds that are among the most acrobatic of fliers.
Two of the most familiar kites in the Southern United States are the swallow-tailed kite and the Mississippi kite. The Mississippi kite is rather plain to look at: a light brown and gray body with a buff or white colored head. But to watch a Mississippi kite fly is to watch a ballet in the air. These raptors eat primarily flying insects, so they do most of their hunting on the wing. As you might imagine, catching flying insects requires a great deal of agility and speed. If you are lucky enough to see one in flight, you will be amazed at the quick turns, graceful moves, and speedy pursuits of this bird. Look for them above large fields, especially during the summer.
The swallow-tailed kite, also common in the South, is more easily identifiable and often seen flying over roads. With black wings and tail, white head and body, and a forked or swallow-like tail, this raptor is just as acrobatic as the Mississippi kite. Swallow-tailed kites like flying over highways in the summer as they can take advantage of the thermals, or columns of warmed air, that rise above the pavement. Once they have climbed to sufficient height, swallow-tails will glide, looking for snakes and reptiles and insects. They also eat small rodents, frogs, and other birds on occasion. Watching a swallow-tail fly is a lot like watching a gymnast perform a floor routine. Rarely flapping its wings, it uses its forked tail to make sharp turns, trace circles in the sky, or simply maintain a heading. Skilled, accomplished, and graceful, this bird is as entertaining as it is beautiful.
Both kites are known to eat while flying, unlike most other birds of prey. This practice conserves energy and allows them to hunt almost continuously. While these kites are not listed as endangered, they are rare and in some states are listed as critical. Loss of habitat is the main reason for the decline. If you are lucky enough to see one, count yourself among the few. These magnificent birds are a sight you won't soon forget.
Based on the text, how are Mississippi kites different from swallow-tail kites?
They are able to eat while in flight, unlike swallow-tail kites.
They are a familiar sight in the South, unlike swallow-tail kites.
They are plainer than swallow-tail kites.
They are more graceful than swallow-tail kites.
Answer:
The correct answer is C.
Explanation:
According to the text, the Mississippi kites are simpler and more modest since they only posses a light brown and gray body with a white colored head.
On the other side, the swallow-tailed kites are more much more striking and appealing with their black wings and taile, white body and head and their characteristic swallow-like tail.

Who was Elie Wiesel?Jewish writer, philosopher and humanist Elie Wiesel made it his life's job to witness the Nazi massacre in World War II. He was the world's leading spokesman for the Holocaust. He was one of the Holocaust's most famous survivors, a world-renowned writer and a human rights defender. What is The Perils of Indifference?Wiesel gave the 1999 White House speech "The Perils of Indifference", emphasizing the danger of indifference. During imprisonment, he and his companions felt abandoned and forgotten. They believed that the world should not know that their suffering and actions would be taken.

So now Della's beautiful hair fell about her rippling and shining like a cascade of brown waters. It reached below her knee and made itself almost a garment for her. And then she did it up again nervously and quickly. Once she faltered for a minute and stood still while a tear or two splashed on the worn red carpet. On went her old brown jacket; on went her old brown hat. With a whirl of skirts and with the brilliant sparkle still in her eyes, she fluttered out the door and down the stairs to the street. What does the author’s diction indicate about the way Della felt about her hair? She stuffed it under a brown hat so she wasn’t too proud. The splashing tears indicate that she was quite tall. She was proud of the way it looked and felt. The fact that she “fluttered” out of the door shows that she was not determined.

Slowly, silently, now the moon
Walks the night in her silver shoon;
This way, and that, she peers, and sees
Silver fruit upon silver trees;
One by one the casements catch
Her beams beneath the silvery thatch;
Couched in his kennel, like a log,
With paws of silver sleeps the dog;
From their shadowy cote the white breasts peep

Informational texts often use images to support ideas. Which of these excerpts from Robert Stawell Ball's Great Astronomers does this image help to explain?
Excerpt 1
The constellation of the Great Bear, which in our skies never sets during its revolution round the pole, did set and rise when a sufficient southern latitude had been attained. On the other hand, constellations new to the inhabitants of northern climes were seen to rise above the southern horizon. These circumstances would be quite incompatible with the supposition that the earth was a flat surface.
Excerpt 2
Ptolemy commences with laying down the undoubted truth that the shape of the earth is globular. The proofs which he gives of this fundamental fact are quite satisfactory; they are indeed the same proofs as we give today. There is, first of all, the well-known circumstance of which our books on geography remind us, that when an object is viewed at a distance across the sea, the lower part of the object appears cut off by the interposing curved mass of water.
Excerpt 3
Imagine a fixed arm to extend from the earth to the sun, as shown in the accompanying figure, then this arm will move round uniformly, in consequence of the sun's movement. At a point P on this arm let a small circle be described. Venus is supposed to revolve uniformly in this small circle, while the circle itself is carried round continuously by the movement of the sun. In this way it was possible to account for the chief peculiarities in the movement of Venus. It will be seen that, in consequence of the revolution around P, the spectator on the earth will sometimes see Venus on one side of the sun, and sometimes on the other side, so that the planet always remains in the sun's vicinity. By properly proportioning the movements, this little contrivance simulated the transitions from the morning star to the evening star.
Excerpt 4
He came to the conclusion that to attribute any motion to the earth would be incompatible with the truths at which he had already arrived. The earth, argued Ptolemy, lies at the centre of the celestial sphere. If the earth were to be endowed with movement, it would not lie always at this point, it must, therefore, shift to some other part of the sphere. The movements of the stars, however, preclude the possibility of this; and, therefore, the earth must be as devoid of any movement of translation as it is devoid of rotation. Thus it was that Ptolemy convinced himself that the stability of the earth, as it appeared to the ordinary senses, had a rational philosophical foundation.

Identify the book you are reading. From what point of view is your book written? How do you know? Use examples from your reading to support your conclusion. Use proper spelling and grammar.
The point of view in a book is discernible through narrative pronouns and perspective, supported by text examples. Proper grammar, complete sentences, and consistent verb tense are essential in effectively conveying this analysis. Clear introductions and conclusions help form a coherent explanation.
To identify the point of view from which a book is written, one must examine the narrative style and perspective applied by the author. For instance, if the narrator uses pronouns such as 'I,' 'me,' and 'my,' this indicates a first-person point of view, suggesting the story is told through the eyes of a character from within the story. If the book uses 'he,' 'she,' and 'they,' without giving the thoughts and feelings of all characters, it suggests a third-person limited perspective. Conversely, if insights into multiple characters are given, it may be a third-person omniscient perspective. To support the conclusion about point of view, one can provide examples where the narrator expresses personal experiences or describes events from an overarching, all-knowing standpoint, depending on the narrative's nature. When writing about this, it is important to use proper spelling and grammar, write complete sentences, and start each sentence with an uppercase letter. Finally, forming a clear introduction and conclusion will make the explanation coherent. Checking for consistent verb tense, punctuation, and capitalization will refine the writing, ensuring that it effectively communicates the analysis of the book's point of view.
