This is often done through utilising rhetorical appeals such as ethos (credibility), logos (logic or fact-based), and pathos (emotional appeal).
Consider a political campaign speech as an example. The speaker, utilise ethos by establishing their credibility and experience in the field, appeal to logos by detailing their plans and policies with facts and figures, and employ pathos by exploring emotional stories or issues that resonate with the audience.
Rhetorical appeals can be combined in different ways to persuade the audience.

C prudent impetuous
D exemplary evanscent
Answer: Question 1 C arrogant; Question 2 B warm wary
Explanation:
Answer 1 Subtle means not obvious; precociuos means premature; empathetic means able to understand other people´s feelings.
Therefore, arrogant is the correct option because the sentence is describing a man who enjoys giving himself credit for his deeds.
Answer 2
In this case because the sentence is introduced by an adverbial clause of concession we must find two adjectives with opposing ideas.
-Haughty means arrogant and deleteriuos means harmful. These are similar ideas
-prudent means cautious and impetious means not cautious. These are not possible because an initial impression cannot be impetuous.
-exemplary means giving a good example and evanescent means vanishing. This combination is also not possible because an initial impression cannot be vanishing.

The Journey
by Mary Oliver
One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice --
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
"Mend my life!"
each voice cried.
But you didn't stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do --
determined to save
the only life you could save.

What is the difference between a soliloquy and a monologue?
Answer:
soliloquy: talking to yourself
monologue : talking to others
Explanation:
A monologue is when there's more than one party involved, like two people talking to each other, but essentially all the talking is done by one person. Imagine a parent scolding a child, and the child doesn't respond. Or a comedian performing alone on stage in front of an audience. There's only one person speaking... but to someone else.
A soliloquy also implies only one person talking... but it's mostly in cases where there's no other participant in the communication. Like when you're talking to yourself. So, there's only one person talking again, but not to any one else.

The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler. Long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

The quote discusses the normalization of repeated language and how it shapes social norms and cultural perceptions. It emphasizes the power of words to influence thought and action, as well as the importance of being critically aware of the language we use and its wider implications.
The quote "That's the problem. We let people say stuff, and they say it so much that it becomes okay to them and normal for us" reflects on the process of how repeated language and phrases can normalize concepts and behaviors within a society over time. It addresses how repeated speech, including quotations, sayings, and catchphrases, can ultimately shape our perceptions of what is acceptable or expected. The impact resonates deeply within our discourse, influencing not only the individual speaker but also the cultural environment at large. This concept is exemplified in everyday interactions where certain responses become predictable and can be manipulated, and extends to wide-reaching societal impacts, such as those discussed by Amanda Morris D'Agostino on structural and systemic issues. By analyzing practices around quoting and speech, and considering the various viewpoints on the authority given to quotations, it's clear that the words we choose to repeat and how we use them can have significant implications. This is evident in the notion that free speech should allow open sharing, juxtaposed with concerns about plagiarism and the originality of thoughts in the digital age. Furthermore, Jay Smooth's analogy points to the importance of viewing our linguistic missteps as opportunities for growth rather than sources of defensiveness, accentuating how language influences critical self-awareness and social understanding.

A Grecian Wedding
Agatha’s sister, Demetria, was just 14 years old when her father informed her that she was to be married. This practice was not uncommon in ancient Greece. Many parents selected husbands for their teenage daughters, and grooms were often considerably older than brides. Agatha had known this day would probably come, and when it did she was anything but happy about it. Demetria was only a year older than Agatha. Demetria’s getting married meant Agatha was next in line to wed. The thought of her sister’s arranged marriage terrified Agatha—so much so that she considered running away to avoid the same fate. But Agatha also knew that this rebellious thought alone was enough to anger the gods. She was a girl, and the beliefs and customs prescribed by the gods required girls to obey their parents.
Agatha certainly appreciated the life her parents had given her. While her friends and their mothers were content to learn about fashion design and spent their time talking about clothing and jewelry, Agatha had been allowed to study reading, writing, and math with a home tutor. Still, she was envious of her brother, who had been going to school since he was 7 years old and had learned all the important subjects, as well as the arts of poetry recitation and public speaking. But Agatha soaked up every moment with her teacher and dreamed of becoming a scholar and even a respected orator, delivering important speeches to great crowds.
She kept these dreams to herself, though, never telling a soul how she felt, because it wasn’t proper. Instead, when her father announced Demetria’s engagement—saying the marriage would be “a fine match and a great investment that will make the family even richer and more prestigious”—she smiled and bit her tongue. Hearing her father talk about her sister’s future like it was a business deal broke Agatha’s heart. She knew that neither she nor her sister needed him or a husband to take care of or make decisions for her, and the thought of running away bubbled up again in her mind.
But then she began to think about what it would mean to disobey her father, imagining how upset the gods would be with her for not following her parents’ will. She remembered the Greek legend of Arachne, a girl who proclaimed she was better at spinning clothing than Athena, the goddess of war and wisdom who was known for having a temper. When Athena heard of Arachne’s boasting, she flew into a rage and turned Arachne into a spider. From then on, Arachne could spin only webs. The prospect of angering Athena like that made Agatha shudder, and she thought maybe she should swallow her pride and accept her father’s plans for his daughters.
The wedding festivities came and lasted several days. On the day of the marriage ceremony, there was a feast, at which Demetria gave up her childhood possessions to represent her journey into adulthood. While Demetria made these offerings to the gods and goddesses, Agatha made a special plea to Athena not to be angry with her for her rebellious thoughts. Then she watched as her sister rode to her new husband’s home in a chariot, flanked by torches lighting her way into her new life. After the procession, the chariot was broken into pieces and burned, symbolizing that Demetria was leaving her parents’ home forever.
Agatha was pleased to see that Demetria’s new husband was kind and that he encouraged his bride to help break the chariot into pieces and even to make a short speech to the wedding guests. Demetria had always looked forward to this kind of traditional marriage and seemed genuinely happy, which warmed Agatha’s heart. But in that same heart, Agatha couldn’t shake the feeling that she wanted something different for her own life. She thought for a moment about the two roads in front of her, and then, knowing that the gods might very well punish her for it, she made her decision.

By showing how the wishes of parents can come in conflict with the hopes of their children, it reflects the ancient Greek view that young people must assert their independence and autonomy.
Answer: I would contend that the right answer is actually the C. By depicting the lack of professional prospects available to a female character, it reflects the ancient Greek view that women should not be afforded the same opportunities in life as men.
Explanation: Just to elaborate a little on the answer, it can be added that throughout the passage it is possible to identify several references to the ancient Greek view that women should not be afforded the same opportunities in life as men. For instance, in the second paragraph it is said that the character of Agatha was envious of her brother, because he had been sent to school, and she had to study at home. In addition, in the third paragraph it is said that she kept the dreams of becoming a scholar "to herself, though, never telling a soul how she felt, because it wasn’t proper." Likewise, in that same paragraph it is said that "neither she nor her sister needed him or a husband to take care of or make decisions for her." Furthermore, in the last paragraph the narrator suggests that, even though she wanted a different life for herself—an independent, self-sufficient, and intellectual life—Agatha ended up accepting her fate, since disobeying her father would upset the gods and she would be punished for it. These ideas indicate that women in ancient Greece, starting at an early age, did not receive the same opportunities as men did—although there were exceptions.
