How did early renaissance artists learn to create more realistic art than their predecessors

Answers

Answer 1
Final answer:

Early Renaissance artists learned to create more realistic art through the use of perspective, realistic proportions, foreshortening, sfumato, and chiaroscuro. They also studied anatomy to accurately depict the human body.

Explanation:

During the Early Renaissance, artists began to reject the Byzantine style of religious painting and strove to create realism in their depiction of the human form and space. This aim toward realism began with Cimabue and Giotto, and reached its peak in the art of the "Perfect" artists, such as Andrea Mantegna and Paolo Uccello, who created works that employed one point perspective and played with perspective for their educated, art knowledgeable viewer.

In addition to perspective, Renaissance artists also developed other techniques to create more realistic art. They used realistic proportions, foreshortening (exaggerating the part of an object closer to the viewer), sfumato (gradual blending of tones to create a sense of depth), and chiaroscuro (contrasting light and dark to create a sense of volume and dimension).

Furthermore, Renaissance artists were influenced by the rediscovery of classical texts and ideas during the period. They studied anatomy through dissections and incorporated their knowledge of human anatomy into their artwork, resulting in more accurate depictions of the human body.

B)
abuses Americans endured as a colony of Great Britain.

Final answer:

The Founding Fathers emphasized unalienable rights in response to the abuses endured under British colonial rule, leading to the emphasis on life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in the United States government. ( Option D)

Explanation:

The Founding Fathers focused heavily on unalienable rights being guaranteed by the new United States government because of the abuses Americans endured as a colony of Great Britain.

The historical context of American independence reveals a deep-seated concern for protecting life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness from government overreach.

This concern was cultivated during the colonial period, when Americans experienced a series of abuses under British rule, such as the imposition of taxes without consent and interference with self-governance, which contributed to the perception that the social contract with Britain had been broken.

As a result, when independence was declared in 1776, and a new government was envisaged, protecting these fundamental rights was paramount.

what positive and negative impacts did caesar have on rome

Answers

During his reign as dictator from 49-44 BC, Julius Caesar had a number of notable impacts on the city of Rome.

One of the initial crises with which Caesar had to deal was widespread debt in Rome, especially after the outbreak of civil war when lenders demanded repayment of loans and real estate values collapsed. The result was a serious shortage of coinage in circulation as people hoarded whatever they had. Realizing the seriousness of the situation, Caesar ordered that property must be accepted for repayment at its pre-war value. He also reinstated a previous law which forbade the holding of more than 60,000 sesterces in cash by any one person. Caesar later cancelled all interest payments due since the beginning of 49 BC and permitted tenants to pay no rent for one year. While these measures still did not eliminate Rome’s debt, Caesar’s creative reaction to the problem helped to alleviate the debt in a way that satisfied both lenders and borrowers.

In addition to debt, Caesar had to deal with widespread unemployment in Rome. As a way to reduce the unemployment, the poor were offered a new life in Rome’s overseas colonies. Those who stayed behind and depended on a monthly supply of free grain suffered when Caesar cut the grain rations in half, limiting the number of receivers to 150,000 when 320,000 had been collecting them. Caesar did, however, arrange for better supervision of the city’s grain supply, and he also helped to improve access to grain from overseas by constructing a new harbour at Ostia and a new canal from Tarracina.

The construction of new public buildings also served as a method of reducing unemployment in the city, but there was another motivation for building major projects in Rome: Caesar wanted to enhance the city’s appearance after he realized how unimpressive Rome seemed in comparison to Alexandria, which was considered the greatest city of the Mediterranean. As a result, the Forum Julium was built to provide more space for lawcourts, and the Saepta Julia, situated on the Campus Martius, provided a large enclosure for voting. Caesar also ordered the construction of a new senate house after the previous one was used as Clodius’s funeral pyre in 52 BC. Additionally, he sought to divert the Tiber River away from Rome to prevent flooding and to add to the city’s area. He had also planned to build a grand temple of Mars, a theatre that would rival Pompey’s, and a library that would rival Alexandria’s. Caesar never saw any of the latter projects completed, however, as he was killed in 44 BC before any of them were finished.

Caesar’s impact on the city of Rome continued even after his death when, in his will, he stipulated that his villa, the gardens surrounding it, and his art gallery all be made public. He also distributed his wealth to the people of Rome, leaving 300,000 sesterces to each citizen. Overall, Caesar sought to make Rome a cultural and educational centre of the Mediterranean world by attracting intellectuals, doctors, and lawyers to the city. Indeed, the actions that he took over his time in power showed his devotion to Rome and his wish to bring stability and prosperity to the city.

Which of the following statements is an example of a historical argument?

A. How many people lived in the Roman Empire at the height of its power?
B. Writing about Roman history is a time-consuming and draining process for historians.
C. After the assassination of Julius Caesar, Augustus Caesar won a civil war and became Roman Emperor.
D. Rome collapsed because of internal weaknesses, not because of attacks from foreign invaders.

A is a question, not an argument.
B is an argument, but about writing, not much about history.
C is a fact, not an argument.
D is most likely an argument, but because I don't know much about the topic of Rome, I cannot say for sure whether this is the answer or not. I'm pretty confident that this is the correct answer though, based on the fact that this statement is not backed up with facts, while C is.

Hope this helps.
Answer D is the answer since it is possible to disagree on the matter while in B it is more opinionated.

Maryland was different from the other English colonies because?

Answers

I think that Maryland was different from the other colonies because it granted religious freedom

Answer:

Maryland was different from the other English colonies because it was founded on behalf of Roman Catholic colonists.

Explanation:

In 1631, George Calvert, a British nobleman, asked the British Crown for the right to own and govern the Chesapeake Bay region. Calvert was a Catholic and wanted a colony in America where the British of that religion, discriminated against in their country (mostly Protestant), could practice their worship. His request was accepted by King Charles I of England in 1632. However, Calvert would die in April of the same year. Charles I then ceded to Calvert's son, Cecilius, Maryland ("Lands of Mary"), in homage to Queen Henrietta Marie of France, wife of Charles I. Cecilius was also a Catholic, and sent the first settlers, who landed in 1634 in the promotory that is directly north of the Potomac River.

Cecilius was obliged to obey the customs of the Anglican Church. He appointed his brother Leonard governor of the colony, and at the same time encouraged the settlers to request laws and help him in the administration. In 1649, the Colonial Assembly passed a law guaranteeing the free exercise of cults that accepted the dogma of the Trinity. This attracted numerous Catholics from other American colonies, especially from Virginia, but it constituted a barrier for members of other Religions, like the Jews.

How and why did Theodore Roosevelt change US policy toward Latin America?

Answers

Theodore Roosevelt changed US policy toward Latin America with the Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine, endorsing intervention to protect US interests and prevent European influence in the region.

Theodore Roosevelt significantly changed US policy toward Latin America by implementing the Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine. This policy was predicated on the belief that the United States had the authority to intervene in Latin American affairs to protect its economic and political interests. The 'big stick' philosophy endorsed the use of military intervention as a means to enforce this policy, especially to prevent European powers from collecting debts in a way that could undermine US predominance in the Western Hemisphere. Roosevelt's actions were motivated by the necessity to prevent European intervention, protect American investments, and maintain stability close to US shores. His approach to Latin American policy was later contrasted by Franklin D. Roosevelt's Good Neighbor Policy, which aimed to reduce intervention and improve relations with Latin American countries.
