Answer 1

Answer:

There is a long history of voting rights in the history of United States of America. The voting rights did not come in one day or in a year. It took a century for establishing the voting rights for all of the citizen without any discrimination on the basis of race, color, gender or religion.

Originally, there was nothing mentioned on the constitution of US. The states were the authority who determined the voting rights. Firstly, only the adult white male property owners were allowed to vote. The freed salves were allowed to vote in a few states. The females were not allowed to vote as well as the native Americans.

After the Civil war,in 1870 the Fifteenth Amendment gave the non white man and freed slaves to right for vote.

On, 1913 under the seventeenth Amendment the voter were given the rights to choose their senators rather than the state legislative.

On 1920, according to the 19th Amendment all of the adult women were given to right to vote in all of the states.

On 1924, all native Americans were given right to vote regardless their tribe.

On 1957, the Civil rights act gave the federal protection to the minority voters. A commission was formed for looking at the complains of the minority voters who were not registered for vote.

On 1964,according to the civil rights act the poll tax was prohibited.

On 1965, The voting rights act gave protection to the voting registration and to make fair participation for all race in the election.

However, this expansion of voting rights might seem lengthy but it is significant. It might took the century to correct all the defective system, but based on the circumstances the process was impressive in their era. Because during that time people were not  wide open to accept any new rule. Moreover, America has experienced some major war in their history which were really bloody. So, it wasn't easy to make all of the correction in one time. Moreover, the race and slavery issue had a strong impact on the voting rights. The majority white leaders and people were not ready to accept the changes in the voting rights.

So, it is pretty much impressive the expansion of voting rights throughout history of United States.

How were women affected by the postwar boom?

Answers

During the post-World War II boom, women were initially pushed back into traditional roles, but the experience of wartime employment planted the seeds for social change, leading to the Women's Movement and lasting shifts in women's societal roles.

The post-World War II boom led to significant changes in women's roles and experiences. The initial return to prewar notions of gender roles meant many women were laid off or voluntarily left the jobs they had taken up during the war, returning to traditional roles as mothers and wives. Yet, their wartime employment provided them with income, a sense of pride, and a taste of independence, leading some women to feel unfulfilled by the domestic sphere alone. This conflict fueled the later development of the Women's Movement.During the postwar period, known as the Baby Boom, the nation's population grew by nearly one-third as economic security and the return of soldiers spurred an increase in childbirth. Despite the demand for their labor during the war, the postwar society saw many women pushed back into the home. However, the experience and opportunities women had gained during the war years planted the seeds for future social changes, including higher divorce rates, two-career marriages, and a rise in single, working mothers.Women in America witnessed changes in their societal roles, with many holding on to the freedom and skills they acquired during the war, refusing to revert to the pre-war status quo. The involvement of women in the workforce persisted and slowly increased as class women normalized working, influenced by factors such as educational opportunities and shifts in marriage and childbearing ages.

During the 1920s, there was a permanent decline in the price of agricultural commodities, such as corn, wheat, and pork. This decline was primarily due to overproduction, decreasing farmers' incomes and leading to economic hardships in rural areas. The Great Depression further exacerbated the situation with a significant decrease in prices, causing widespread economic distress across various sectors.

Despite the roaring social and cultural advancements of the 1920s, economic challenges like overproduction and declining prices contributed to the onset of the Great Depression and marked the end of a prosperous era.

why are elections considered a linkage institution in politics

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

there are four main linkage institutions, the media, political parties, interest groups, and elections.  The ultimate goal of linkage institutions is to give you all the access possible to the elected officials by the citizens whom elected them.

Final answer:

Elections are considered a linkage institution because they connect citizens with their government, allowing for the communication of preferences and opinions through voting. Political parties, media, and interest groups enhance this process by highlighting issues, influencing opinions, and lobbying for policies, ensuring that the public's voice is heard and acted upon in the political system.

Explanation:

Why Elections Are Considered a Linkage Institution in Politics

Elections serve as a critical linkage institution in politics, effectively connecting citizens with their government. This connection is not just symbolic; it has tangible impacts on how democracy operates and ensures its legitimacy. By voting, citizens communicate their preferences, needs, and opinions to the government, which, in turn, is expected to respond to these inputs through policymaking and governance activities.

Political parties also play an essential role as linkage institutions. They act as intermediaries by sifting through various issues, elevating the most important and popular concerns onto the government agenda. Parties present these issues through platforms and candidates, offering voters choices that reflect different approaches to governance. The election results provide clear signals about the public's policy preferences, guiding elected officials on the path they should follow to adhere to the electorate's will.

The involvement of media and interest groups further enhances the functionality of linkage institutions by disseminating information, influencing public opinion, and lobbying for specific policies. All these elements combined ensure that the public's voice is heard and considered within the political system, making elections a cornerstone of modern democratic governance.

which of these causes Americans to move to the West in the mid-1800s

Answers

Answer:

please comment down the choices so i can help you.

The option (D) is correct because the discovery of gold in Northern California was a significant factor that caused Americans to move to the West in the mid-1800s.

When news of gold spread, approximately 300,000 people flocked to California from across the United States and abroad, eager to make fortunes. This massive influx transformed California’s landscape, economy, and demographics. Towns sprang up overnight, infrastructure expanded, and California quickly progressed toward statehood by 1850. The other options are incorrect because:

The option (A) is incorrect because the cotton gin increased Southern agriculture efficiency, not directly prompting Western migration.

The option (B) is incorrect because the steamboats improved inland waterway transport, indirectly affecting, not directly causing, Western expansion.

The option (C) is incorrect because the telegraph enhanced communication but wasn't a direct motivator for moving to the West.

The complete question is:

Which of these causes Americans to move to the West in the mid-1800s?

A. The invention of the cotton gin.

B. The development of the steamboat.

C. The invention of the telegraph.

D. The discovery of gold in Northern California

What was the concept of Montesquieu's separation of powers?

French social and political philosopher Charles-Louis de Secondat, baron de La Brède et de Montesquieu, first used the phrase "trias politica" or "separation of powers" in the 18th century.

The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the United States Constitution were both greatly influenced by his publication, Spirit of the Laws, which is regarded as one of the greatest works in the history of political thought and jurisprudence.

According to his theory, the state's political power is split between the legislative, executive, and judicial branches. He argued that these three authorities needed to be distinct and operate independently in order to best advance liberty. Therefore, "separation of powers" refers to the division of governmental responsibilities into different departments in order to prevent any one branch from doing the essential duties.
